Diaper/Wipes On-The-Go Tutorial!!!!!

Alright! Let's get started!!!
Cut out your pieces. Here is what you will need:
1 outside piece: 13"x 9 1/2"
1 fleece piece: 13"x 9 1/2"
1 inside piece: 13"x 9 1/2"
2 pocket pieces: 3 1/2"x 9 1/2"
2 contrast pieces: 2"x 9 1/2"
2 ribbons 10 1/2" long

Prepare the pockets. For this step, you will need your pocket pieces and contrast pieces.
For each pocket, line the edge of the contrast piece with the top edge of the pocket:

Sew your pieces together.

Press with your iron as you flip your contrast pieces. Fold the raw edge over about 1/2" and press with iron. Sew your final fold like so:

Time to get this sewn together!

Align your pieces like so:

Align your inside fabric with your pocket pieces. Align your outside piece on the top on the fleece fabric. Place the ribbon pieces so that one end of the ribbon is placed in the middle top part of your outside fabric. Pin it in place. Do the same for the other ribbon piece. Sandwich the two sets so that the outside fabric lays on top of the pockets, and sew:

Note: Leave an opening right about between the 2 pockets, in order to be able to turn your pouch inside out. Trim corners so that it looks cleaner when turned inside/out.

Hand stitch the opening from where you turned your piece inside/out:

Once you are done, enjoy your beauty!!

It's a celebration!!! Very first Give-away!!!

My weekend kicked off on Friday night with a "diaper" shower for two ladies from our church, Radius. Since I had not gotten a chance to make it to the store to get a good deal on diapers, and mostly since I wanted to add my touch for these two ladies!, this is what I brought:
I call them diaper/wipe on-the-go! I am sure this isn't new in the world of babies, but it's for sure something I came up with when Marla was about 2 months old and I got tired of taking the giant diaper bag everywhere, along with my purse, the baby in the car seat, the blanket that kept falling out, the this, the that... There had to be something that I could make with all the fabric bits and pieces I was keeping all this time! I made this so it would perfectly carry a travel-size baby wipes pack in one pocket, and 2 or 3 diapers in the other pocket! And voila!!
I made a boy version for the Pitts family:
and a girl version for the Harmons family:
So now, let's get down to business... I made a third one! I got into such a groove last week while making the two I offered as gifts for these 2 families, that I decided to make one to give away to my fervent readers!!!!
When I planned this blog, I planned to have at least one giveaway-a-month! So this is the very first giveaway:
How does the giveaway work? It's very simple!!!!
1- leave me a comment at the end of this post!
2- leave me your email address in the comment!
3- you have until Tuesday September 21st, at 12am to enter your comment for a chance to win my diaper/wipe on-the-go!

TCBY, Raggae, and Target

Marla and I had the best time Thursday night! TCBY with colored sprinkles on top! She was thrilled!!! We got to listen to this French kid's CD in the car and the raggae beat got Marla grooving in the back seat on the way to Target!

Target had the best deals on their clearance racks! You should know something about me, I LOVE me-self some thrift shopping. Second-hand treasures can get so exciting! Well I have to say I got myself a thrill last night with Marla! Left and right clearance red tags were waving at me: check me out.. look at all the different ways you can use me, spray paint me and do all sorts of creative things with me... Yes, that kind thrifty thrill!!!After an hour of walking the store, I let Marla get her pick of deals out there! She chose this adorable head band wtih a large purple flower. She loved it so much, she wore the entire way home (with the tag sticking up straight claiming $.98 clearance out loud!) and she took it to bed for the night!

This was a great evening! Marla was off to bed at 8:45pm and I was off to my sewing station to sew some baby goodies! I promise to share this quick and fun project ASAP!!!

Thank you to my followers!
Don't forget to take time to have a one-on-one date with your little ones! ; )

This is my official first blog!

This is my official very first blog!
Hi! I am Celine Miller! and WELCOME!
I would like to introduce myself to you. I am French, married to my handsome American husband Rhett. We have the most precious little girl.. that would be Marla. You will see a LOT of her on this blog! Her coming into our life has inspired me to change my sewing focus from home deco to little girls stuffs! I love making her dresses, skirts, and other goodies! It is my privilege and honor to sharewith you all the inspiration she brings to me! I am always thinking about something new... but I can't do it without the wonderful gifts God gave me!
My prayer is to use my skills to His service and His Glory. I hope to bring you the joy sewing brought to my life!

Lately, I read these words in a Max Lucado book entitled Fearless. This is what started it all over again for me. This insert is from the chapter called "Fear of Not Mattering:"
"Why does He love you so much? The same reason the artist loves his paintings or the boat builder loves his vessels. You are His idea. And God only has good ideas."

This statement translated to me as this whole new understanding and meaning behind my craft: learning to love myself and the way God loves me. When I create something, I take pride. If it doesn't completely work out, I strive to make it better and save it. That's exactly how much God loves me as his creation.
We as women tend to judge ourselves and get down on ourselves. That's my struggle. My mission through sewing and crafting is to grow stronger and to become confident knowing how much He loves me, but also to witness to you the comfort you can find in Him and teach our daughters to grow into confident women by setting the best image I can!
Alright! enough written already! let's get crafty!!!!
